BE PREPARED

When searching for a job, remember that failing to prepare is preparing to fail. You are competing with hundreds of people for the same role. These people have the same qualifications if not better and probably even more experienced than you. You will never know, so your job at this stage is to prepare very well for the interview. The more prepared you are, the higher your chance of being calm and controlled, which allows you to answer the questions accurately and calmly.

  • Research on the company
  • Company’s website
  • The company’s social media handles
  • An informal visit to the location
  • Get to the location about 15-20 minutes before the scheduled interview time
  • Being late reflects on you negatively. Being late to an interview is a show of who you are and how you will behave when employed.
  • Being a few minutes early, also allows you to have some time to think through what you’ve read or researched.

APPROPRIATE DRESSING

Dress for the job you want. Take industry into consideration.  It will be best to ask the one who scheduled the interview about what is appropriate to wear and what is not. However professional looks never failed anyone yet.

Make sure that whatever you choose to wear, you are comfortable. As humans, we function better when we are confident in what we are wearing, it allows us to be confident.

First impressions count. Always look your very best.

ASK QUESTIONS AT THE END OF THE INTERVIEWS

Most candidates do not ask any questions when given the opportunity to do so.  If you plan well and organize yourself prior to the interview, you will most definitely have a question or two at the end of the interview.

Your questions showcase your passion, dedication, and interest in the role and the organization.
